Special Olympics Polar Plunge
Starts: 7:00 am
Ends: 9:00 pm, February 4, 2012
Location: Polar Plunge XX will be held on the Atlantic Ocean beach between 6th and 9th Streets in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Description: The "Plunge" happens when all the thousands of plungers race into the Atlantic Ocean, within a safety perimeter established by EMS dive team members from around the state. Plungers set their own personal goals of how deep to go and how long they want to stay in (within the limits established by the EMS divers). Some plungers only get their ankles wet; others stay in and play until the dive team members make them leave the water. Diving into the shallow ocean water is prohibited and going completely underwater is discouraged since it makes it harder for the divers to determine individuals in distress.

The 2012 Polar Plunge is on Feb 4, 2012. The festival area opens at 10a.m.; the actual Plunge happens at 2:30 p.m. And don’t miss the Friday night (Feb. 3) Polar Plunge Party, the Saturday morning 5K or the 20th Anniversary Saturday Night Beach Bash.

Jaycees Happy Hour at Dogwoods Southern Bistro
Starts: 5:30 pm
Ends: 9:00 pm, February 23, 2012
Location: 1479 General Booth Blvd Virginia Beach
Description: We are starting up our monthly member/guest happy hour with the VB Jaycees.

We are changing things up a little bit this year. Of course we encourage everyone to attend but we will be doing the drink tickets a little different. So PAY ATTENTION:

Members - will recieve their 1st drink for free, but if they bring a new person then the member will receive 3 tickets. And their guest will receive 3 tickets as well. if a member brings 2 or more guests, they still only get 3 tickets...

1st or 2nd time attendees who are not brought by a member will receive 3 tickets. upon your 3rd time attending one of our happy hours, you will adhere to the same rules as a member.

Tickets are good for domestic beer, well drinks and house wine only...

So this is a great reason for you to reach out to friends, co-workers, church or random people on the street and bring them to one of our events.

Of course we will provide some finger foods for all, just as we have in the past. And if you have been to Dogwoods, then you know that it will be some good stuff. If you haven't, then you are in for a real treat. for more info http://www.dogwoodssouthernbistro.com

In case you are not too familiar us: The VB Jaycees are men and women between the ages of 21-40 who live, work and/or play in Virginia Beach. We promote personal and professional development through community involvement. Throughout our history, the VB Jaycees have been instrumental in the development of various conerstones of VB life; including VB General Hospital, VB Rescue Squad, Library System, Flame of hope, etc.

The VB Jaycees are also the Producers of ECSC and the Annual 1st Citizen Award. The VB Jaycees are definitely into making a difference in the community but we like to have fun too. Stop out and see for yourself.
