It is that time of year again for the Jaycees Christmas Shopping Tour. Every year, the Jaycees partner with Project Link, a city organization that works with families affected by substance abuse. We take children from that group shopping for their families. Each child will receive a set amount to purchase gifts and we need volunteers to help them do their shopping.
After the shopping portion is done, we then go to CiCi’s Pizza where we help the kids wrap their gifts and then Santa shows up with gifts for the kids themselves as a reward for thinking of others instead of themselves.
Everything is paid for by the Jaycees, we just need volunteers to help out. Bring a pair of scissors (especially kid scissors) if you can.
Feel free to share this with friends and family. Everyone is welcome, and it is a lot of fun.
For those of you who consider yourselves “professional shoppers”; what better opportunity to show off your skills by helping these kids get the most out of the money allotted to them (about $75 each).. Also, ace gift wrappers are always a welcome addition to this event. We will need between 35-40 Volunteers this year. Hope you can help out!!
Big Sam’s at the VA Beach oceanfront has offered the Jaycees an opportunity to set up a t-shirt tent Saturday, September 3rd and Sunday, September 4th. Come by if you missed your chance to purchase your official t-shirt. All shirts will have the “I survived Irene/ ECSC” logo added to the sleeve
The Jaycees will also need volunteers each day. Please let Grant Hummer know if you can help (firstname.lastname@example.org).
If you haven’t made it out to one of our happy hours yet: WHAT are you waiting for???
Contact Grant Hummer if know of a company, individual, etc who might like to sponsor one of our socials. All we need is $300 and they can write it off as advertising since we will give them some space to be present or have information.
We sadly say goodbye to Courtney Duncan who has done a fantastic job as President of the Virginia Beach Jaycees. We congratulate her on her new job in South Carolina but will miss her greatly. We are honored to have Candice Jones take over as President of our Jaycee Chapter. We look up to Candice for her leadership skills, organization and witty humor.
